The West Broward High School boys’ and girls’ soccer teams concluded their seasons with competitive records and a shared emphasis on teamwork and preparation. Both programs prioritized strong communication, consistent effort in practice, and maintaining intensity during matches.
The boys’soccer team finished the year with a 7–10–1 record. The girls’ soccer team concluded with an 8–5–2 record, both teams demonstrating steady performances throughout the season. Across both programs, players focused on building chemistry across positions and competing at a high level during practice, contributing to organized and disciplined play on the field.
“Our practices are always energetic and build as we go, starting with dynamic warmups to get us ready physically and mentally. Then we move into more intense drills and small-sided games where we really focus on our skills, positioning, and communication,” said senior center back Alejandro Echeverria. “That preparation helped us build endurance and trust each other on the field. It made a big difference once the season started because we felt ready to compete,”
One of the standout moments of the season for the boys soccer team came during their biggest win, a 5-3 victory over Piper High School. Echevarria led the team scoring two goals and senior defensive midfielder Joseph Artanis had 5 steals. The match highlighted the team’s attacking confidence and defensive organization, both of which steadily developed as the season progressed. Unfortunately, the team was unable to develop quickly enough, and the Bobcats ended their season in the district quarterfinal against the number two seed Doral Academy after falling by a score of 8-0.

Ball In: Sophomore defender Megan Rossy scans the field for an open teammate against Somerset Acadamy. The Bobcats would lose the game 2-1.
“Our win against Piper showed what we were capable of when we stayed focused and played together. We were confident going forward and organized defensively, and that game truly reflected our growth as a team. Even though the season ended earlier than we wanted, the experience taught us a lot and showed us what we need to improve moving forward,” said Artanis.
One of the best games of the winter came during the team’s largest win, a dominant 9-1 victory over Hollywood Hills High School. In that match, the Lady Bobcats controlled the pace of play, communicated effectively, and executed on both offense and defense. Offensively, center midfielders freshman Leah Vazquez and senior Sarah Jimmerson led the game with three goals each, helping their team to this dominant victory. With strong chemistry, structured practices, and a shared commitment to improvement, the team performed consistently at a high level. However, they ended their season in the district quarterfinal against Barbara Goleman with a score of 1-0.
“Our win against Hollywood Hills was a highlight because it showed how well we can control the game, communicate, and work together on both offense and defense. The season has taught us that leadership, collaboration, and perseverance define who we are as a team. Though our season ended in the district quarterfinal, we are proud of how much we have grown and improved together,” said junior right back Andrea Tarazona.
