West Broward High School senior, Isabella Borges, has become one of the most distinguished members of the class of 2026. Her dedication to academic excellence, leadership in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), and commitment to community service have earned her recognition across her school and the community.
Borges is ranked sixth in her class of 2026 and is enrolled in a rigorous schedule of Advanced Placement (AP) classes and University of Florida dual enrollment courses. This level of commitment shows in her day to day work, college level assignments, and leadership roles across various school programs. Her academic achievements not only highlight her personal discipline, but also place her among the leading scholars at West Broward.
“Isabella is one of those students who stands out by thinking outside the box and going above and beyond. She is one of our top academic students, and academically she is taking a very demanding load.” said school counselor Krystyna Warkentien
Borges is the founder of “Bites and Books”, a community organization that was created with the intent to increase STEM within our community. The organization hosts coding workshops in libraries throughout Pembroke Pines as well as middle and elementary schools which include Silver Trail Middle School and Chapel Trail Elementary. Through this program, she has helped younger students create websites and interactive quizzes. In addition to “Bites and Books”, Isabella created another resource called “Prepared Scholars of Tomorrow”, a website designed to guide first- generation and Hispanic students through the college admissions process who are able to rely on her website for clarity and direction.

“ I realized I could share what I had learned about with other Hispanic first-generation students like me. That led me to create my website, Prepared Scholars of Tomorrow, that breaks down the college admission process in both English and Spanish.” said Borges
Borges’ accomplishments have earned her recognition statewide. She is a National Merit Semi-finalist placing in the top one percent of Florida seniors on the PSAT. She has also been honored as a Distinguished Young Woman of Pembroke Pines, Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar, AP Scholar with Distinction, Digital and Interactive Media Silver Knight Nominee, and has received placements in Science Olympiad competitions in both Chem Lab and Microbe Mission.
Her endeavors give us an example on what it means to be a hardworking student by balancing academics with meaningful activities. Through her achievements, she has not only helped herself but also those around her succeed. Her passion for helping others shows her dedication to her community and all upcoming generations, leaving a big impact at West Broward High School.
“ I never set out to win awards, I simply followed my passions and worked hard at what I love. I’m incredibly grateful that my efforts have been recognized, but these honors don’t belong to me alone, said Borges. “ They reflect all the monitors, friends, family, and experiences that have shaped me and supported me every step of the way.”
