With Principal Brad Fatout transitioning to Flanagan High School, West Broward High is ushering in a new era of leadership. Among the new additions is 9th grade Assistant Principal Dave Piroozshad, who brings over two decades of experience in education and a deep commitment to fostering student success.
The main reason that West Broward was so alluring to Mr. Piroozshad is because of its many opportunities for the students to excel. The vast amount of extracurricular activities and clubs allow for students to be well-rounded individuals and prepare them with skills such as leadership and cooperation. Mr. Piroozshad commends West Broward for its excellence in this regard, having more than 17 clubs and groups for students to join and possibly discover their passions in as well as have a generally positive experience. It is extremely important for any student to find an extracurricular and West Broward makes this facet of high school extremely accessible.
“The things I knew coming in were that the kids are great. And the teachers are awesome, and there’s a lot of different programs here like EMT JROTC culinary, just to name a few, I knew that kids have opportunities here like no other school has,” stated grade 9 assistant principal Dave Piroozshad
Piroozshad’s journey into education wasn’t linear. He began college at Arizona State University in 1998, graduating in 2001 with the qualifications to become a physical therapist. However, his time working with children at summer day camps sparked a passion for teaching, leading him to change his goals to ones involving education After entering Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan in 2001, Piroozshad graduated with a degree in education and science in 2003 from that point his professional career began at Coral Springs Middle School, where he taught science for 10 years until 2013. In 2015, he earned a master’s degree in leadership from Barry University and coached various sports at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. These experiences helped him develop a holistic approach to education and leadership.

“I think Mr. P is very experienced and talented in his field; he is a valuable asset to have here at West Broward and I’m excited to see where he can help the freshmen here at West Broward” said grade 10 Assistant Principal Dionne Sterling
In 2016, Piroozshad transitioned into administrative roles, serving as an assistant principal at McArthur High School for eight years until 2024. This position allowed him to refine his leadership skills and shape his vision for school management. At McArthur, Piroozshad implemented initiatives to improve academic outcomes and foster a positive school culture. His efforts included creating professional development opportunities for teachers and introducing programs and strengthening existing programs to support students and their journeys through high school.
“I actually have some family that went to McArthur a few years back and when- ever they transferred to another school they complained that the staff wasn’t as good they always said, “why can’t these guys be more like Mr. P he was better” and I think that’s great that he is now their baseline for a good vice principal” said English teacher Francis Callahan
Now at West Broward, Piroozshad, impressed by the motivated student body as he settles into his role, Piroozshad has already begun forming strong connections with stu- dents and staff. 9th grade stu- dents have benefited from his guidance. One of Piroozshad’s goals at West Broward is to help the school’s programs and ensure every student has access to the resources they need to succeed. Whether it’s expanding opportunities or collaborating with colleagues, Piroozshad is committed to making West Broward a place where students thrive. His journey from a summer camp counselor to a dedicated administrator and leader is a testament to the power of following one’s passion. With his vision, experience, and unwavering commitment to students, West Broward will continue having a bright future.
“The students here care deeply about their education and future, many want to attend colleges and build successful careers. It’s inspiring to see their dedication, and I want to continue supporting them every step of the way.” Piroozshad said Administrator and leader is a testament to the power of following one’s passion.
